Whilst the contenders for the Barclays Premiership title are falling by the wayside, there are still several players looking for victory in the inaugural fantasy football league on The Football Blog.

Affizzul Hakim’s Starcaster maintained a slender lead after the latest round of fixtures, thanks mainly to sticking with the captaincy of Carlos Tevez. There were slender returns elsewhere, but a 49-point haul was enough to stay at the top.
Snapping at his heels are James Hutchison’s SportGuru and Richard Bourne’s Get Loose Get Loose, and just seven points separate the top 3 positions. It’s not dissimilar to the actual Premiership, although points are slightly easier to come by in the fantasy league.
The whole top ten is within 100 points of the leader, which means that any one of them could still win the title – all it takes is a 5-goal haul from somebody’s unlikely captain to send them to the top!
More likely, the competition will be decided by the fortunes of fantasy favourites such as Drogba, Rooney and Torres – it’s often down to personal preference which one you select or captain, and they can either pick up a couple of goals, assists and bonus points in one match, or they can return a solitary 2 points to leave the manager fuming.
It’s getting tense, and I’m off to tinker with my team.
