The FA Cup is back this weekend, and with three of the traditional top four already out, it really is anybody’s competition. The 5th round kicks off at Stamford Bridge at midday tomorrow when Chelsea take on 2008 finalists Cardiff City, with Crystal Palace’s home tie to Aston Villa the final fixture of the round at 3.45pm on Sunday.
Sandwiched between these two Premiership vs. Championship encounters are six other intriguing looking fixtures, with plenty of scope for an upset or two. Can Stoke draw inspiration from their last round victory over Arsenal to beat Manchester City? Will Notts County march on against Fulham? Here are our predictions:
Saturday
- Chelsea 4-1 Cardiff City
- Southampton 2-1 Portsmouth
- Derby 0-2 Birmingham City
- Reading 2-2 West Bromwich Albion
- Manchester City 3-1 Stoke City
Sunday
- Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Tottenham
- Fulham 3-0 Notts County
- Crystal Palace 1-2 Aston Villa
As ever, let us know your thoughts. Will Chelsea’s indifferent recent form continue tomorrow? Can Pompey offer their fans a crumb of comfort by winning the South Coast derby? Whoever you’re backing, enjoy the weekend’s action.
