Here at The Football Blog, we’re proud to announce our support for the newly-formed Reality Football Club (RealityFC). Reality F.C offers fans a unique opportunity to control and interact with a Sunday League football team.
The team will be picked by fans who can monitor fitness levels, have access to vital statistics, watch video highlights of matches and have their say on the management of the club.
Below is a press release from RealityFC as they prepare for their inaugural season. We’ll be following their journey through the Middlesex County Sunday League and offering our own opinions!
RealityFC (Reality Football Club) is a brand new concept: a football community created to show the workings of amateur football. It offers the chance to get ‘behind the scenes’ access to a Sunday League team and provides an opportunity to influence the outcome.
The website features videos and in-depth statistics for every player, including fitness, skill levels, and even psychological attributes.
Reality F.C is looking for fans to follow the team and view all the action, goals, and post match interviews. Fans that are willing to participate in decision making to influence team selection and tactics.
To become a RealityFC fan and manager, sign up free to www.realityfc.com and then start supporting the team. Updates can be seen on the website or via Facebook.
Anyone can join the site, look at the players, and then discuss formations and strategy on the forums. Every week, there is a vote on who should play and which tactics the team should adopt. However, just like running a professional football team, much of football management is about choosing the right players for their position, and applying tactical knowhow to win each match.
“Whilst people may want us to play like Barcelona, they really need to look at the player attributes and see if we have the right players to play that way” said Chairman David Preece. “It might be that punting the ball up to a target man is a better option in some situations, and in RealityFC’s case, the fans get to make that decision.”
Behind the motivation to create Reality F.C is the opportunity to eliminate negative misconceptions about football: “When I say I’m tired of watching over-paid footballers diving all over the pitch and arguing with the ref, I know I’m not alone. This is fundamental to the Reality F.C team ethos. The team will not dive or deliberately foul opponents; and will always show respect to referees. Of course, if a player does not follow this ethos, then it is up to the fans to decide whether the player should be fined, dropped or released altogether from the club.”
“Video cameras will go behind the scenes and you will see what really happens in the dressing room and on the sidelines of an amateur football team,” said Mr Preece.
Every Sunday morning thousands of people leap out of their beds, go to their local parks, and play football for amateur teams. Every footballer has a true passion for the game, and RealityFC welcomes this enthusiasm as one of the key elements of watching a truly entertaining football match.
