Emmanuel, we’ve Ade-nough

And so another week beganwith a revealing interview with Emmanuel Adebayor. What was the topic of conversation this week?

Yes you guessed it, yet another sob story about how he was forced out of Arsenal. Great. Because we are yet to hear about that since his move to Manchester in the Summer.

But this time it’s not the fans he is blaming for his move to Eastlands, it’s Arsene Wenger.

Adebayor said he was basically told to leave, even though he didn’t want to but Mr Wenger said they had come to an agreement with Manchester City and that it would be best for him to go. Blah, Blah.

And just incase you didn’t grasp it, ‘best to go’ effectively translates into the famous words of Sir Alan Sugar, You’re Fired!

Now Mr Wenger does not just throw players out of the club for no apparent reason as Adebayor seems to think.

Players such as Emmanuel Petit, Patrick Vieira and Theirry Henry were all sold because they had given their best years to Arsenal and wore the famous red and white shirt with pride.

Adebayor had a very good season back in 07-08. He scored 30 goals in all competitions for Arsenal, won the goal of the season award for his stunning strike against Tottenham and was named in the PFA Team of the Year. Brilliant, yet another unknown talent unearthed by Wenger.

But then he had a massive ego trip and he thought he was ‘The Man’ after supposed approaches from AC Milan and Barcelona. But unfortunately that’s not how it works at Arsenal and he found out that there is only One Man at the club and that’s the one who gave him the boot.

His lacklustre efforts and his poisonous attitude was to be his downfall and the Arsenal fans do not take kindly to a lack of effort, considering they pay close to £60 a game.

In the end, Adebayor lost his manager’s faith, his teammates trust and the fans appreciation. And God, don’t we just know about how the fans didn’t appreciate him.

Every interview, we are treated to a story about his love affair with the Arsenal fans. What did he want them to do? Give him a bunch of roses and serenade him with love songs as he enters the stadium!

I and everyone else in the footballing world continue to sigh everytime we see an exclusive interview with the Togo striker because you can read the same quotes in last month’s newspaper.

But I wonder what next month’s exclusive interview will reveal? Who is left to blame? Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Adebayor Files. I’m sure you will be blown away.
